The Consorcio Azucarero Central (CAC) formally inaugurated its thirteenth CAC Softball Tournament, in which collaborators from the different areas of the company participate in this healthy fun. The 5 teams that will be participating in the sports event are from the areas of Administration, Boilers, Agriculture, Service Center and Transportation.

The opening ceremony held at the Court of Villa Central had great support from CAC employees, family members and the community in which it takes place. The activity was chaired by Virgilio Pérez-Bernal, Human Resources manager; Pedro Peña Rubio, civil governor of the Barahona province; General Ludwing Suardi, Southern Regional Director of the National Police and Belkis Cotes, Superintendent of Personnel Administration.

The Inauguration

With the traditional parade of the teams that represent different areas, the lively journey from CAC’s Administration facilities to the Villa Central play began, this time accompanied by a team of cheerleaders, made up of collaborators of the company in support of the sport.

Before starting the development of the opening ceremony, Belkis Cotes, Superintendent of Personnel Administration, put this edition of the tournament in the hands of God through the prayer of blessing, followed by the civil governor of the province of Barahona, Pedro Peña Rubio, who had a few words of motivation for the participants and highlighted that with this action CAC builds bridges that communicate between its employees, and not walls that separate them.

The main words of the event were pronounced by Virgilio Pérez-Bernal, who said that this activity is aimed at the integration of employees and highlighted the importance of encouraging healthy competition and recreation for employees. At the same time, he thanked everyone present for their support and appreciated the work involved in organizing the tournament.

Likewise, this edition of CAC Softball Tournament was dedicated to Mr. Roberto Ubico Ferrus, who is the general superintendent of the Service Center and who was awarded a plaque in recognition of his dedication in keeping the sports spirit alive in all the company’s collaborators.

Present at the activity was Magdalia Medina, vice-mayor of Villa Central and representatives of the military bodies in the province, as well as the managers of the Administrative areas and the Service Center, area superintendents and friends of the company.

CAC maintains its commitment year after year to promote sport to maintain physical and mental well-being among its employees, as well as the communities.
