Consorcio Azucarero Central inaugurates CAC 2019 Cañera Softball Cup

With the participation of 16 teams from the communities where the Consorcio Azucarero Central (CAC) carries out its operations, the Cañera Cup of Softball CAC 2019 was inaugurated in the Jaquimeyes play of this Barahona province.

Julio Fernández, Communications Superintendent of CAC, who was accompanied by Manuel Emilio Urbáez, southern regional director of the Sports Ministry, as well as Carlos Valentín Batista, Jaquimeyes municipal mayor, chaired the opening ceremony.

The activity began with the parade of teams from the welcome mural of that community to the play, under musical notes by the National Army band.

Upon reaching the pitch, those present sang the notes of the National Anthem, then giving way to Reverend Teodoro Matos, who blessed the sporting event by raising a prayer to the Almighty for its harmonious and memorable development.

The mayor of Jaquimeyes, who, as host, urged the players so that the tournament takes place in conditions of respect and friendliness, gave the words of welcome.

For his part, the Director of Sports, Manuel Emilio Urbáez, thanked CAC for the contributions made to strengthen sport in the Region, indicating that an event of this magnitude strengthens the foundations of young people’s sports practice.

Additionally, Julio Fernández, Communications Superintendent of CAC, when delivering his keynote speech, argued that “for CAC organizing this event has been very satisfying, we like the encouragement and joy that can be seen on the faces of those present here” , while reiterating that the event is one more example of the company’s commitment to the entire area and the sport.

The sports oath oversaw the player Antonio Sánchez, from the Batey (small village) 5 community.

The Participating Teams

The 16 teams participating in the sporting event are La Obra de Cristo, with players from Batey 2 and Batey Isabela; Los Guaraguos, belonging to Batey 3 and El Palmar; Los Sembradores, with participants from Batey 4 and Santa María, as well as Los Rututeros, with players from the Batey 5 and Batey Cuchilla communities.

Likewise, Los Gigantes from Batey 1 and Santana, La Maquinaria with players from Monserrate and Tamayo, Los Duros de Vencer, from the community of Los Robles, while from Uvilla and El Jobo is the Uvilla team.

Also the teams Santa Bárbara, Cristóbal, Jaquimeyes, La Guázara and Pescadería, which represent the communities that are named, San Vicente with players from Fundación, Batey Altagracia and Batey Algodón; the Peacekeepers of Batey 7, 8 and 9, and Los Mineros de Salinas.

Game Rounds

 

The first regular round will begin next Sunday, October 20, with simultaneous games in the communities of Pescadería, Batey (small village) Altagracia, Salinas, Cristóbal, Los Robles, Uvilla, Batey 1 and Batey 3.

It will continue Sunday, October 27, with simultaneous games in the communities of La Guázara, Jaquimeyes, Batey 8, Batey 5, Monserrate, Santa Bárbara, Batey 2 and Batey 4.

The teams that win the 3-2 in the first round go to the second round and then define a semifinal between 4 teams that win 3-2 and the final with the 2 remaining teams.

Game Mode

The game mode for this event is Chata Lenta and will be developed in accordance with the updated Official Softball Rules, issued by the International Softball Federation, except in the modifications that were specified in the Regulations delivered to each team leader.
