The Consorcio Azucarero Central (CAC) and the Fundación Central Barahona (FCB), delivered more than 400 food rations to different social and religious organizations in this province, with the aim of mitigating the impact of COVID-19 on people under conditions of vulnerability.

The Pastoral Social Cáritas de la Diócesis de Barahona, directed by Mons. Andrés Napoleón Romero Cárdenas and coordinated by Father Antonio Fernández Rodríguez, received 250 boxes and 50 bags, the latter prepared by the wives of the company’s employees, to be distributed to previously identified families in various parishes.

On the other hand, 54 kits were distributed for families in the community of Boquerón, Las Salinas municipality and 50 additional kits for residents of Villa Central, both orchestrated by neighborhood associations.

Each unit was endowed with enough food for a week per family, thus providing food for more than 1,500 people.

“As a Dominican company we have always felt committed to supporting the most vulnerable communities and actions like these allow us to consolidate the idea, especially in these difficult times caused by COVID-19,” said Julio Fernández, Communications Superintendent of CAC .

By his side, Karla Rojas, FCB Operations Manager, said: “We recognize that it is a time of solidarity, a time of union and only together we can move forward. Therefore, we continue to do our small part. ”

The deliveries of these food rations were made at the headquarters of the Archbishop of Barahona and in the communities of Las Salinas de Villa Central and Boquerón, in the hands of their representatives.
