The Ingenio Barahona is recognized as the most efficient sugar cane production per hectare in the Dominican Republic. Currently it has 8,800 hectares of cultivation of which the company works 8,400 and uses 400 as seedbeds. Around 750,000 tons of sugarcane are produced on these lands, which is a total of around 72 thousand tons of sugar.
With respect to that, CAC plans to expand, and with that increase the amount of sugar to 100 thousand tons.
Thanks to the efficacy of its operations, CAC exports around 30% percent of its sugar to the U.S. and Europe, while around 70% is distributed in the national market. These proportions may vary depending of the annual dispositions of the Instituto Azucarero Dominicano (INAZUCAR).
